Realme GT Neo 3 Review: Design

  • Glass finish on front and back
  • Polycarbonate frame
  • Lightweight
  • Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and AG Glass on the back

With the design of this smartphone, Realme has once again managed to attract people. This time too, like GT phones, Realme GT Neo 3 has chosen a different and best design. The stylish phone features a GT Racing stripe on the rear panel that starts from the top of the camera module and runs all the way to the end. We have got the white color variant as a review unit, though we have also encountered the blue-colored GT Neo 3, I liked it more in the white color. However, if for some reason you don’t like the racing stripe, you can also go for the Asphalt Black color variant, which doesn’t have this racing stripe and the phone remains the same color.

Another good thing about the GT Neo 3 is that it doesn’t get easily visible fingerprints or any other marks on the rear panel and hence maintains its sleek look. Here you also find three rear cameras on the top left, which are fitted on a flat camera module. Although this camera module keeps the phone slightly raised when placed on a surface, it also comes down to a level with the cover that comes with it. And then the camera bump is the story of almost every phone on the market.

Now when you flip the phone from the rear panel to the front, you can see a large screen with a punch-hole camera at the top, and center, and a screen-to-body ratio of 94%. Here you will get a great experience while watching anything on the screen. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 has also been installed on the screen for protection. Apart from this, while watching any content, you can control the volume with the volume button on the left side and the power button on the right side to wake up the screen.

Build Quality

Coming to our point of view, mainly the lightweight of the Realme GT Neo 3 and the comfortable fit in one hand, was the highlight of the design for us. Even with a bigger screen and bigger battery, it weighs only 189 grams. The company has also taken full care of the build quality in GT Neo 3 and it looks premium. The phone has glass on both sides, joined by a sturdy polycarbonate frame in the middle. Also giving water protection to the phone, Realme has also offered IP certification here.

Realme GT Neo 3 Review: Display

  • 10+ bit AMOLED display
  • 120Hz refresh rate
  • Better calibration

The GT Neo 3 comes with a Full HD+ AMOLED display, which is a nice feature. This screen is very bright, the colors are also accurate and look good and are also sharp. Here you also get 120Hz refresh rate support, with which it feels quite smooth, especially while scrolling through news or article, or social media.

Touch response on the phone is also very good. The screen is very touched sensitive and it responds very quickly to every touch during use. Although we would definitely like to tell you that at this price you have not been given LTPO display on this phone. Talking about the refresh rate, you can choose between 60Hz or 120Hz on the phone. In this, you do not get the option to set anywhere between 1Hz to 120Hz like the flagship phone GT2 Pro.

Dedicated display processor

However, while talking to us, the company has also mentioned about this smartphone has a dedicated display processor, which makes the frame rate smoother while working faster while gaming, so that you get better animation or visuals. Can you

As with AMOLED displays, the screen of the Realme GT Neo 3 also offers excellent viewing angles and good contrast. It also has such a brightness that you can see the screen in sunlight. During the few weeks we used it, we liked its screen.

Realme GT Neo 3 Review: Performance

  • MediaTek Dimensity 8100 5G Processor
  • Realme UI works well
  • There are a lot of bloatware apps

Our experience with Realme’s software has been decent. While this UI has tons of cool features, it’s simple and the design is good, it also has tons of bloatware apps. And whenever the notifications of the apps which are not useful to you come, it is a bit annoying. However, to make a phone like the GT Neo 3 a bit affordable for people, it also makes sense to give these bloatware apps from the company. At present, we have got more than a dozen pre-installed apps on this phone. But the good thing is, that you can uninstall or remove most of them.

MediaTek Dimensity 8100 5G chipset

In terms of performance, the GT Neo 3 is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 8100 5G chipset, which is almost at par with Qualcomm’s flagship octa-core Snapdragon 888 chipset. The four performance Cortex-A78 cores in this chipset have a clock speed of 2.8GHz and the remaining four efficiency cores have a clock speed of 2.0GHz. It is given here with Mali-G610 MC6 GPU.

The performance of the phone is good as expected, this phone is able to handle everything that you do on it. It is capable of handling all day-to-day tasks with great ease and the GT series phone is able to handle heavy loads with ease without any hiccups.

For a better understanding, we have run benchmarks on it, the results of which you can see below:

Benchmark test Score
Geekbench 5.4.4 Single-Core 929
Geekbench 5.4.4 Multi-Core 3,763
GFXBench Aztec Ruins ES 3.1 OpenGL (High Tier) Full HD+ On Screen 2,228 Frames (41 FPS)
GFXBench Aztec Ruins ES 3.1 OpenGL (High Tier) QHD Off-Screen 1,749 Frames (27 FPS)
GFXBench Aztec Ruins ES 3.1 Vulkan 1.0 (High Tier) Full HD+ On Screen 2,654 Frames (42 FPS)
GFXBench Aztec Ruins ES 3.1 Vulkan 1.0 (High Tier) QHD Off-Screen 1,888 Frames (28 FPS)
GFXBench Car Chase ES 3.1 Full HD+ On Screen 3,185 Frames (53 FPS)
GFXBench Car Chase ES 3.1 Full HD 3,409 Frames (59 FPS)
GFXBench Manhattan 3.1.1 ES 3.1 Full HD+ On Screen 3,670 Frames (60 FPS)
GFXBench Manhattan 3.1.1 ES 3.1 Full HD 6,676 Frames (111 FPS)
GFXBench Manhattan ES 3.0 Full HD+ On Screen 3,782 Frames (60 FPS)
GFXBench Manhattan ES 3.0 Full HD 10,235 Frames (167 FPS)
3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress Test 1,454 (Best Loop Score) To 1,159 (Lowest Loop Score)
Stability: 78.7%

We also tried running some AAA mobile games on it and to our surprise, this powerful chipset is not optimized for gaming. Games like BGMI and CoD Mobile run on this with medium settings. Although this is not the case here due to Mali GPU. Genshin Impact, which is another heavy game, ran smoothly on this phone.

The problem here is not that this chipset is not powerful for gaming, but the problem is that MediaTek chipsets do not have the right optimization for games. It is expected that Realme and MediaTek will contact the game developers to optimize this chipset for these games.

Realme GT Neo 3 Review: Camera

The Realme GT Neo 3 packs a triple rear camera setup, which includes a 50MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP macro sensor. For selfies, the smartphone sports a 16MP camera with a punch-hole. The primary 50MP camera has both optical and electronic image stabilization. Apart from this, you also get many more camera features like dual video, ultra-macro, tilt-shift, pro mode, etc.

Its primary camera beats the other two rear cameras a lot and clicks very good pictures. Detail dynamic range comes a lot in these pictures. Although the colors aren’t as accurate, you won’t be able to make much difference if you’re not a photographer.

Its 8MP ultra-wide camera is capable of clicking good pictures during the daytime. However, in these, you will see slightly different colors compared to the pictures taken with the primary camera.

Talking about low-light, we would suggest that you use night mode to click pictures at night. With this, it will be able to click better pictures with good detail and colors even in low light.

Its front camera is 16 MP and is capable of delivering pictures with rich detail in good light. We were able to take clear and detailed portrait shots with good bokeh-effect with this camera.

Overall, we would say that the primary rear camera and selfie camera of the Realme GT Neo 3 are quite good, albeit an ultra-wide average. But the macro sensor here only serves to increase the count.

Realme GT Neo 3 Review: Battery

We have got the 150W variant of Realme GT Neo 3 for review. It has a 4500mAh battery inside. We are also quite impressed with the battery life. With this, we got about 6 hours of screen on time, which is not bad at all for this battery.

But if that’s not enough for you, you can charge this smartphone to 50 percent in just 5 minutes and up to 80% in 10 minutes with the 160W adapter that comes with the phone.

Review Verdict: Should you buy the Realme GT Neo 3?

The Realme GT Neo 3 150W variant is one of the best smartphones available for under $485. According to us, it beats the OnePlus 10R, Moto Edge 20 Pro, and iQOO 9 SE in price. In this you get many good features, a great display, extremely fast charging speed. Along with this, the primary rear camera and selfie camera are also included in their good specifications here.

The biggest drawback of the GT Neo 3 we found to be its software, which has tons of useless and useless pre-installed applications and also many duplicate apps, whose constant notifications spoil a good experience here. Also, the company has said to give only two software updates, which is good but compared to Samsung, this is a shortcoming because Samsung has announced software updates for its flagship phones for 4 years. Hopefully, if Realme fixes this bloatware problem here with the coming updates, then you will get a better experience.

  • Sleek design
  • Good display
  • Reliable good performance
  • Extremely fast 150W charging support

  • Bloatware
  • Fewer software upgrades
  • No IP rating
